Anthony Lloyd is currently at large after forcing his way out of a medical facility in Lewisham, south-east London. The Metropolitan police have launched a manhunt for the 38-year-old man, stating he poses a risk to both himself and the public. Residents are advised not to approach him if they spot him and to call 999 immediately.
The escape occurred shortly after 4 pm on Friday. Police confirmed that Lloyd was last seen at approximately 4.10 pm heading toward Catford. A statement issued on Saturday detailed his last known movements and requested public assistance in locating him. Officers have not confirmed a specific location for the search but believe he could be anywhere in the capital.
Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm. The offense stemmed from an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence. In September, he was transferred from prison to the health unit in Lewisham where he remained until Friday.
Police describe Lloyd as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and of medium build. He has short dark hair. When last seen, he wore a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. These details are being distributed to aid in his identification.
Det Supt Melanie Pressley is leading the search. She said officers are conducting various inquiries to find Lloyd and return him to custody. Pressley urged anyone with information, however small, to contact police as a matter of urgency. She emphasized the concern that Lloyd poses a risk to himself and others.
The search has expanded beyond London. Police noted that Lloyd has links to Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. These areas are now included in the investigation scope. Anyone with information is asked to call 999 and quote reference CAD4739/23Oct.
