Samsung Japan has locked in a schedule for its One UI 9 update, which is built on Android 17. The company stated that the software will reach eligible devices in that market between October and November 2026. This list serves as the primary indicator for global release timing, though the specific dates apply strictly to Japan.
The rollout follows the initial launch of One UI 9 on the Galaxy S26 series in September. Samsung has now expanded eligibility to include three generations of flagship phones. The confirmed list covers the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, along with the Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra. Owners of the Galaxy S24, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, and S23 Ultra are also included in this wave.
Foldable devices occupy a large portion of the announcement. Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 will all receive the update. This extends the software refresh to devices from the current and previous two years of foldable hardware.
Mid-range smartphones are part of the plan as well. The list includes the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36, and A25. Tablet owners can expect the update on the Galaxy Tab S11, S11 Ultra, S10, S10+, S10 Ultra, S10 FE, S10 FE+, S10 Lite, S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, S9 FE, and S9 FE+.
Additional tablet models on the list include the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 edition, the Tab A11, Tab A11+ 5G, and the Tab Active 5 Pro. These entries bring the total number of confirmed devices to 40. The company noted that this is not a final list for all hardware, as some Plus variants and regional models are missing from the current document.
Samsung indicated that the global rollout will continue beyond the Japanese window. The company expects to push the software to entry-level devices through December and January. The timing for these later releases depends on regional distribution schedules.
The update introduces new features based on the Android 17 operating system. Owners of the listed devices can check their device settings in the coming weeks to see if the installation is available. The list from Samsung Japan provides the clearest timeline for when these changes will appear on older hardware.
