OnePlus 15 and Pad 4 get Android 17 update a week early

Android 17 reached two OnePlus devices in India on October 23, seven days ahead of the company's original release plan.

The stable update is now available for the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4. This marks the first time these two models have run ColorOS, effectively ending the use of OxygenOS on new stable builds.

OnePlus previously announced that OxygenOS would be phased out as the company scaled back its global operations. The software had served as a customized Android layer for years before evolving into a global version of Oppo's ColorOS. The shift was part of a wider corporate restructuring.

The update was in beta testing for several months before the stable release. OnePlus described the new software as a tool for "Flow with AI" and "Flow Everywhere." The company stated the goal is to reduce friction between tasks and devices. It also aims to use AI to help users turn ideas into finished work.

The October 23 date in India was faster than the October 29 timeline OnePlus originally set for the first devices. The next wave of updates is scheduled for October 30. That group will include the OnePlus 13.

Other models have been confirmed for the update, including previous generation flagships and various Nord models. The source did not confirm specific dates for regions outside India beyond the initial launch and the October 30 follow-up.

The rollout follows a period of change for the brand. The OnePlus 15 and other models sold out in the United States after the company shut down most of its global operations. OnePlus has also unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
