The Ivy League championship race remains undecided after Dartmouth defeated Harvard 24-14 on Friday night in Hanover, New Hampshire. The result leaves both teams with identical 3-1 conference records, placing them at the top of the standings. Princeton trails at 2-1, while the remaining five teams in the league sit at 1-2.

Dartmouth’s defense generated five turnovers against Harvard quarterback Charlie Smith. Cameron Best-Alston recorded two interceptions, including one on the Crimson’s first play from scrimmage. That stop led directly to a one-yard sneak by Grayson Saunier, giving Dartmouth the initial score. Linebacker Matthew Boydell added another interception at the three-yard line, returning it 36 yards to extend the momentum.

Harvard managed to narrow the gap late in the first half. Defensive back Xaden Benson tied a single-game record with three interceptions and set a new single-season mark with nine total. His first pick set up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Nate Bailey, bringing the Crimson within 14-7. At halftime, Dartmouth led 21-14.

The Big Green controlled the second half through ball control and continued defensive pressure. Dartmouth ran the ball on its previous 13 plays to take 7:17 off the clock before Owen Zalc kicked a 30-yard field goal with 4:22 remaining. That kick extended the lead to 24-14. Dartmouth accumulated 229 rushing yards in the game.

Harvard’s comeback efforts stalled in the fourth quarter. Smith was intercepted twice during the Crimson’s three drives in the third quarter, including a pick-six by No’Koi Maddox in the end zone. Sean Chester sealed the result with a fifth interception of the game with 3:56 left on the clock. Harvard, currently ranked 16th in the FCS, will host Columbia on Nov. 7.
