Two people were found with gunshot wounds inside a home in Westbrook, Connecticut, on Wednesday evening, leading to the arrest of one suspect who now faces murder and attempted murder charges. The Connecticut State Police Troupe F responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on East Pond Meadow Road at approximately 5:25 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located John Bongiovanni, 37, outside the property while continuing their search inside.

Agents discovered two victims within the house, both sustaining apparent bullet injuries. The state police confirmed that one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to Hartford Hospital, where medical staff reported the individual remained in critical condition as of Thursday morning. Bongiovanni was taken into custody following a preliminary investigation into the incident.

The suspect is currently held on a $3 million cash bond. He is scheduled to appear before the Superior Court in Middletown on Thursday. Prosecutors have formally charged him with one count of murder and one count of attempted homicide. The department continues its active investigation into the events that led to the shooting.

State police officials have urged the public to provide any relevant information to assist in the ongoing inquiry. The case remains open as detectives review evidence collected from the scene and the victims' medical records. No further details regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victims have been released by authorities at this time.
