The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. This victory gave Milwaukee its first World Series title in franchise history. The Brewers won the best-of-seven series 4-1.

Milwaukee scored one run in the second inning, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth. Jacob Misiorowski pitched 5⅔ innings for the Brewers. He allowed two hits and no runs before the bullpen took over. The relief pitchers gave up one run and stopped the Rays.

The Brewers finished the regular season with 103 wins. This is a franchise record. ESPN Research noted that Milwaukee is the third MLB team to win 100 games and capture its first title in the same year. The 1910 Athletics and the 1969 New York Mets are the other two teams with this distinction.

CC Sabathia, a former Brewer, posted on social media that the team was champion for the first time ever. He asked fans to soak it all in and mentioned Bob Uecker smiling down. J.J. Watt, a Wisconsin native, also shared the news and urged fans to cheer. The Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Marquette University, and Wisconsin state athletic programs all sent congratulatory messages.

Adam Wainwright, a former major leaguer, called the performance one of the most dominant wins in World Series history. He described the lineup as having three guys in every inning and the bullpen as absolutely stifling. Joey Votto sent a brief message of congratulations to Cream City.

Nike stated that a 57-year thirst had been quenched. The Colorado Rockies noted that a player they called Senza won a WBC championship and a World Series title in the same year. Culver's Restaurants, a Wisconsin-based chain, thanked the Brewers for an incredible run. The company saluted the Rays for a hard-fought series and said baseball is better with a little Wisconsin flavor.
