Ten downtown blocks in Corpus Christi will transform into a vibrant cultural hub this Saturday as the region prepares for its nineteenth annual Día de los Muertos Street Festival. This free event serves as the centerpiece for a busy weekend of activities across the Coastal Bend, blending traditional remembrance with modern community engagement.

The festival runs from 1 p.m. until midnight, offering attendees access to live music, artistic displays, culinary offerings, and various cultural performances. A central feature of the day is a community ofrenda, a collective altar designed for families to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. The holiday tradition focuses on celebrating the lives of the deceased rather than mourning their loss.

Alongside the memorial celebrations, horror enthusiasts can attend the Villain Invasion Halloween Fest at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina on both Saturday and Sunday. The event offers opportunities to meet actors from well-known horror films, participate in costume competitions, and engage in gaming tournaments. A charitable element allows visitors to exchange two nonperishable food items for the Coastal Bend Food Bank in return for a limited edition poster, subject to availability. Weekend admission starts at $20, with children aged twelve and under entering for free.

For those preferring morning activities, the Monster Mash Cupcake Dash returns to Water's Edge Park on Saturday. Participants may register for a 5K run, a 10K run, or a two-mile walk, all while dressed in costume. Every participant who completes the event receives a cupcake. The funds raised support Family Counseling Services, an organization providing mental health care throughout the region.

Families seeking a lower energy option can visit Asbury Methodist Church for a pumpkin painting session from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Attendees purchase their own pumpkin and decorate it on site. The church's pumpkin patch will remain open to the public through Halloween.

A new addition to the schedule is Hocus Pocus Corpus, launching at the Hilliard Center from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. This free event includes trick-or-treating, door prize drawings, and a community resource fair. Organizers have also scheduled a presentation focused on renters' rights to provide practical information to local residents.
