Lionel Messi will return to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sunday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m. to face the New England Revolution. The match marks the final regular season home game for the Revolution before the MLS playoffs begin. It may also be the last time Messi plays in the state, as he has recently stepped away from international football.
The contest pits two top contenders in the Eastern Conference against each other. Following the October 17 slate of games, Inter Miami held the second spot with 55 points, while the Revolution sat in third with 52. The Revolution secured a playoff berth for the first time since 2023 in mid October. The standings remain fluid, with the Revolution scheduled to visit the Philadelphia Union on Saturday before hosting Miami.
Messi, who is 39, played his final match for Argentina on October 6 against Benin in Buenos Aires. He had announced his retirement from the national team on August 31. He remains the statistical leader for his club in the league, recording 25 goals and 14 assists across 27 matches this season. His contract with Inter Miami extends through the end of the 2028 season.
Attendance figures from previous visits suggest the stadium will be full. In April 2024, a crowd of 65,612 watched Messi score two goals in a 4-1 victory for Miami, a record for the club. The two teams previously met in April in Miami, where they drew 1-1. Carles Gil scored for New England, while Germán Berterame equalized for Inter Miami.
Inter Miami’s roster includes Argentine midfielder Rodrigo de Paul and Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. Casemiro will make his first visit to Foxborough since joining the league. Team lineups will be released closer to kickoff time.
Tickets for the game are available at revolutionsoccer.net/tickets or by calling 1-877-GET-REVS. Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance for the special train service to Foxborough, as capacity is limited.
