Heidi Klum appeared as a massive, severed hand at her Halloween party in New York on Saturday. She marked the 25th year of the event with a costume that left only her eyes and mouth visible. Blood dripped from her lips as she extended her tongue from the center of the hand.
The costume depicted Klum's left hand. It featured long red nails, a thumb ring, and her engagement and wedding bands. The top of the hand included dangling ligaments and tendons. Several assistants wore blood-stained hazmat suits to help her move around.
Klum said the idea for the costume came to her last year. She looked at her own hand and believed she could fit her body inside the shape. The design included specific personal details to identify the hand as hers.
The model noted that getting into the costume took five to six hours on the day of the event. Creating the prop took a longer period. She shared images of the makeup application on Instagram before the party began.
Klum described carrying the prop as the most difficult part of the performance. She called the hand quite heavy. In previous years, she has dressed as Medusa, a peacock, a Transformer, a werewolf, a clone, and the Hindu goddess Kali.
Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, did not attend the party because he was on tour. The costume included a tattoo of his name on the ring finger, along with her palm lines and veins. Klum said, "A little bit of Tom is with me."
Klum went viral in 2022 when she arrived at the party on a fishing line in a worm costume. She said the hardest aspect of this year's look was the physical weight of the hand.
