Bike MS Cycling Fundraiser Set for Lubbock on July 18

The one-day Cactus & Crude ride, offering 25-mile and 60-mile routes, will raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Cyclists from across West Texas are being invited to take part in Bike MS: Cactus & Crude, a one-day ride scheduled for Saturday, July 18, in Lubbock. The event is organized to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) and its work toward finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Organizers say the ride is also meant to get people outdoors and active, while helping provide those living with MS the tools to live their best lives. The NMSS has made strong progress toward its fundraising goal of $288,000 and hopes to reach it with this year's Lubbock event.

Riders can choose between two routes, a 25-mile course and a 60-mile course, both of which pass through the West Texas landscape. Registration is done through the NMSS sign-up page, where participants enter their information to join the 2026 ride.

All participants will gather at English Newsom Cellars, located at 408 E Woodrow Road in Lubbock. Riders on the 60-mile route will set off at 7:30 a.m., and those on the 25-mile route will depart at 8 a.m.

The day begins with breakfast at 6 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 7:15 a.m. Lunch and massages will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a special frozen treat will be offered between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The routes close at 2 p.m.

Participants must meet several requirements. A minimum of $250 in fundraising must be paid before a rider can begin the course, and all cyclists must be older than 12. E-bikes are permitted under certain circumstances.

Helmets must be worn at all times during the ride. Pets are not allowed to take part, though service animals are an exception.

Additional details about the day's plans are available on the National MS Society website.
